The Camino house is located in Mt Lawley, north of Perth. Designed in the manner of an ‘oast’, the new portion of the building mimics the surrounding chimney forms, of Vincent Street housing and the Lincoln Street Incinerator, creating a contextual ‘relic’.
The front of the house retains the existing shape of its history: the federation format, the 60’s concrete veranda and the tiled porch. The existing house is rendered in grey, like a fossil, so that the newest addition rises in the background.
